Literally, The Grand Tour’s second season will start with a bang because episode one reveals the jaw clenching moment we’ve all been waiting for, Hammond’s epic crash.
Titled “Past, Present, or Future,” the fist episode will feature Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May on a road trip through Switzerland in three supercars: Lamborghini Aventador S, Honda NSX, and all-electric Rimac Concept One.
Perhaps the episode derived its title from each vehicle’s model year; Honda’s second generation NSX representing the past, the Aventador S as the present, and the Rimac as the future. Speculation aside, fans are sure to be excited for the trio’s return after a tumultuous year of crashing, sickness and hospital visits.
Speaking of which, we all probably know by now how the episode will end because of Hammond’s accident that happened back in June during filming. The Rimac crashed off the hill after completing its last Hamburg Hill Climb run and Jalopnik
has the breakdown of what happened that day.
Crash data showed the car flying off course for about 30 meters before hitting another road and then barrel rolling for about 100 meters. Luckily the car missed all three houses on its way down the hill or else the incident would have given Hammond more than a fractured knee.
Luckily, all three seems to be in good health in spite of everything and we can look forward to the first episode airing on December 8th.
